Oozing Liquid Table

I couldn’t think of any other table to fit a modern household. This just looks amazing.

Unfortunately, it looks like this table is just a concept, but I’d love to see it when it’s complete. It’s the designers like these that will end up taking some simple idea and making millions of dollars out of it.

Happenings at Blogosis

With the new layout here, I’ve been adding a lot of changes to Blogosis. I think it is turning into a really lovely blog, but as you preobably notice, it is really crowded. It is all just testing to optimize the blog, and I am sorry for any inconvieniences. So of course you want to know what I’m doing to the blog, in fact what I am doing may be helpful for your blog. Read along to find out.

You probably notice the changes to the sidebar as of now. I’ve changed the ads I’m displaying there. I put in a WidgetBucks widget. Entrecard has now been transferred to this site, despite how much I hate Entrecard. It’s in experimental stage right now, and I figure you want to earn more credits for the Blogosis Contest, so now is your chance to drop your card here.

I’ve also created an ultra-sleek header. I’m thinking I might start selling graphics, so if you are interested, contact me a justindupre@blogosis.com.

I’ve started selling space ad spots on the side. If you’d like to purchase a spot, just click on the ad placeholder and it will open up to your email, and you can just send details on what you want. Ads will run for one month at a time. Buy a spot this week and I will take off $5 dollars.

At the end of my posts you may be seeing a new experiment I am running. I’m using an affiliate program and posting a link to one of their products at the end of the posts. It doesn’t get in the way of the content so it isn’t too distracting. You might want to try that on your posts, to generate some extra revenue.

I’m am looking for guest posters. If you have any useful, controversial, or entertaining articles you’d like to see on Blogosis, please email me. With your email, send me the link to your blog or website, your best article there, and an article you would like to see here. Don’t worry, I won’t post without your permission, and you will know when you are posted. Think of this as a good way to get a back link to your blog and a little extra traffic.

In other news, I was looking at my other blog, one I never do anything with, and I looked at my PR. It is a PR7 blog! How? I have no idea. Go check for yourselves at Stumbled Here.Speaking of Stumbling, I had a huge hit count come from Stumble Upon yesterday. I guess someone stumbled that page where I said I will give away Entrecard credits. Entrecard? Come on, we all know Entrecard is crap. Anyways, it brought in 164 hits, with only a 23% bounce back rating. That is excellent!

Blog subscribers are up to 36 from 10 last week. Great conversion!

I have been emailing Darren Rowse of ProBlogger dot com, and it seems like I may be a future guest poster there. I am really excited for the opportunity, and psyched that he said he was interested in what I had to write. Look forward to some traffic if I get posted!!

Oh yeah, anyone who comments on my blog from now until January 19th (My birthday) will get a free 125 x 125 ad on my blog for a month. Make those comments useful, I may be basing my judgement on what comments I found the most entertaining or useful. Spam comments will not enter you for a chance to win. Seems like I only like to give for my birthday, right?

You Don’t Need to Be Weird to be a Good Blogger

I just started my Introduction to Philosophy course today at college. My professor seems like a great guy and dedicated to what he does. He is extremely intelligent, with three majors (Philosophy, Business Management, and Economics) and he “comes prepared to class with a sense of humor” according to his syllabus. He delivers. Anyways, here is what he had to say to our class today.

Subscribe and Win! Contest Update!

I’ve experienced a giant bump in traffic suddenly. I am hoping that it is because of the refreshing new theme I spent about 6 hours modifying last night, but I am thinking word may finally be getting out about this contest. I’ve seen my subcribers (by email) jump from just 3 all the way to 8. Remember to activate the subscription by finding the link in your email from my Feedburner Feed. As of now there are two of you that need to do that. My mother thinks she can win my money, too. Sorry Mother, you are the one supposed to be giving me money. Hahaha. I know I am a horrible son.

First Impressions: Make or Break Your Blog

make-money_firstimpression

Today is the first day of school after winter break for me. I am really excited for this new term to begin, cause it means new classmates, new friends, and hopefully new eye-candy (girls). That being said, I’m dressing myself up today. I plan on spending some time on my hair, and wearing my contacts. I’m getting out of my lazy mood and really going to make myself look the best I can. This is something you should not only apply to yourself, but your blog as well. You have new visitors coming everyday, and whether or not they are going to like your blog comes with the first meeting of it. Make your blog design unique, clean and comfortable for a new subscriber, just as you would if you were starting a new school year or a new job. Here are some issues with blog designs that will help you gain some points with the newbies to your blog.

Compatibility - I stumbled upon this problem on my blog yesterday when I was at the internet cafe. Their computers didn’t have Firefox, which is the only browser anyone should ever use. Unfortunately, I was stuck using lame ass Explorer 6.0. All my pages were having trouble viewing the way I always saw it in Firefox. My sidebar was below all my blog posts. This was not good for my advertising. So, not everyone’s browser will always be compatible with your blog scripting. Try and make it to the point that it is as clear as possible. Also, recommend your subscriber’s download Firefox. If you are running a Wordpress blog, it uses a lot of CSS. Internet Explorer has serious issues displaying this correctly.

Ads -Yes we do need to use advertising or sell something to make money on our blog. Just try not to overdo it. I am in the process of cleaning this up myself. My side bar is loaded with them. It makes my blog look unprofessional and dirty. Your subscribers also do not enjoy ads. Don’t ad pop ups or pop unders, no matter how good the payout. It is never worth it. How would you like it, if you are talking to some hotty, and then your best friend walks in between you two and starts flirtin’ that babe. Pop-up. Same thing, okay?

Get off of Blogger - For god’s sake, get your blog off of Blogger. I use to run a horrible blog on Blogger. If you want to make a money making blog, you need to put some money into it. Get yourself hosted and using Wordpress. I suggest Dreamhost (if you sign up now with the code “OSIS”, you get $50 dollars off). For other web hosts, check out my Web Hosting link. Wordpress is ages ahead of Blogger. It is more intuitive, and you are much more likely to get a bigger blog readership from a blog that uses Wordpress, than one that uses Blogger. SEO is much easier to manage with Wordpress as well.

These are just some issues, I will be covering more design issues in a further post. Make sure you subscribe so you get it the second it hits shelves.
